Graphic Tee Care Guide: Keep Your Prints Fresh

Graphic tees aren’t just shirts—they’re wearable art. Treat them right and they’ll stay bold, soft, and street-ready for years. Below are the essential steps our studio follows (and you should too) to protect every limited-run print.

1. Prep Before You Wash

  • Turn tees inside out. This shields the ink from direct friction.

  • Fasten any zippers or buttons on other garments to prevent snagging.

  • Sort by color depth—white tees in one load, darks in another.

2. Wash Settings Matter

Setting Best Practice Why
Water temp Cold (≤ 30 °C / 86 °F) Saves energy & slows fading
Cycle Gentle or hand-wash Reduces stress on seams & prints
Detergent Mild, bleach-free Harsh chemicals crack ink

Skip fabric softeners. They leave residue that can dull graphics.

3. Drying Dos & Don’ts

  • Air-dry when possible. Hang tees on a rack away from direct sun (UV light can bleach colors).

  • If you must tumble, set to low heat and keep garments inside out.

  • Remove promptly to avoid deep creases in the print area.

4. Ironing Without Damage

  • Flip the tee inside out.

  • Use low heat, no steam directly on the graphic.

  • For stubborn wrinkles, place a thin cotton cloth over the design before ironing.

5. Smart Storage

  • Fold tees graphic-side in to minimize dust and light exposure.

  • If you hang, use wide, rounded hangers—wire versions stretch collars.

  • Store in a cool, dry space; humidity breeds mildew.

6. Quick Stain Rescue

  1. Blot, don’t rub.

  2. Dab with diluted mild detergent.

  3. Rinse cold from the garment’s back to push stain particles out.

7. Repair & Upcycle

Got a tiny hole or print crack? Patch with an iron-on backing or transform the tee into a tote bag. Upcycling extends garment life and keeps fabric out of landfill.

8. Eco-Laundry Hacks

  • Cold water saves up to 90 % of wash-cycle energy.

  • Line drying shrinks your carbon footprint and your utility bill.

  • Wash full loads—less water waste, fewer microfibers released.

Small care tweaks = longer-lasting street-wear. Preserve your limited drops, reduce fashion waste, and keep every design looking day-one fresh.
